Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Area Lead Civil Structural Engineer to strengthen our team. This is Dubai Residential position and will require trips into Basra.

Accountable overview:
To have single-point responsibility for all Civil & Structural engineering deliverables to ensure they are in line with the key project drivers, and that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards, Client’s policies and procedures, & asset operational needs.
To manage & drive the Civil & Structural engineering and design team performance on the project in line with the Project Scope, the P6 Schedule, the CTR Man hour budgets, & the Master Deliverables List (MDR).
To provide direction & guidance on defining and resolution of all technical issues relating to Civil & Structural engineering. This is to be maintained on the Engineering Actions Register & discussed in Engineering meeting.
To promote safe behaviour & safety in design principles at all times.

Responsible Overview:
To ensure a cooperative interdisciplinary approach to engineering design during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
To plan and update project “forecasts to completes”, weekly & monthly reports, & attend progress meetings.
To plan discipline resource requirements to identify shortages or surplus resources.
To coach and mentor direct reports to a higher standard of performance.
To liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance representatives as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality.

Ownership of key activities and deliverables:
Project Scope Definition & confirmation with client
Production of discipline deliverables list (MDR) in line with project scope
Production of discipline actives list in line with project scope
Production of discipline CTR’s in line with MDR, activities list & project scope
Production of discipline project schedule in line with CTR’s, MDR, Activities List, project scope, other discipline & project dependencies.
Participation in interactive planning session with engineering manager, planner, and other disciplines to ensure each project discipline is aligned on the key project milestones and each disciplines dependence.
Production of a project needs list and raising Requests for information.
Production of Project Assumptions, Exclusions, & Qualifications list.
Produce project site survey plan & scope of work for discipline.
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company
Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
Experience in drainage works, roads & paving, buildings (modular and stick-built), geotechnical analysis for foundations, lifting and transportation analysis of modules, pipe supports and foundations, construction activities
At least 12 months experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance
