Proficiency in MS office tools

Job Title: Economist

JOB PURPOSE

Prepares short-term production plans, turnaround/ shutdown production scenarios and plans and all related economics for review and consideration. Analyzes and reports on the economic performance of Plant Operation in order to support the business planning and scheduling process.

Detailed Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Optimization and Economic Analysis of Plant Operations
Uses internally developed and external economic models to calculate key financial and economic metrics to assist senior management in Plant investment decisions
Develops optimized short-term production plans, turnaround and shutdown production plans in line with long term plans and tracks its implementation
Prepares and analyses weekly and monthly plan vs actual reports to improve plans and implementation. Keeps track of economic indicators and guides the Plant operations and scheduling to maximize the economic benefit.
Develops business/ operating planning and economic scenarios as per the requirement
Carries out Techno-Economic analysis of plant operating and capacity constraints to drive changes for increasing plant margins.
Develops inventory reports and prepares plans for inventory optimization

Economic Modelling of Plant Operations
Develops internal economic models of the plant operations to provide a platform for investment analysis.

Prices of Key Product and Feed Stock Prices
Keeps refined product and feed stock price database and closely monitors the prices to optimize refinery scheduling and operations

Utilization of Advanced Planning Tools
Contributes in developing and personally utilizes the advanced planning and economic models based on Linear Programming (LP) and other optimization techniques.
Helps in standardization of planning process

Job Requirements

Supervision
Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets
Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Implement approved Department/ Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section’s work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.

Performance Management
Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Sectioning line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices
