Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) is a UAE environmental non-governmental organization, established under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).
EWS works in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. EWS-WWF has been active in the UAE since 2001 and has successfully initiated and implemented several conservation and education projects and initiatives in the region.
EWS-WWF works federally and in the region with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah and is governed by a local board of directors.
The Events & Marketing Officer is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the marketing and events activity that aims to generate leads for the Business Development Unit and promote the work of EWS-WWF in the UAE. The role holder is also responsible to produce an annual event calendar and implement those planned events in coordination with the Event and Marketing Manager.
The Events & Marketing Officer will support the liaison between internal and external stakeholders including the communications team, business development team (internally) and donors and supporters from the government and private sectors (externally).
Reporting and Authority
The Events & Marketing Offficer reports directly to the Strategic Marketing & Events Manager and has no line management responsibility.
Key Performance Indicators
1. Marketing and Lead Generation
Contribute to the successful implementation of marketing plans to enhance the funding proposition and promote the engagement programmes of EWS (corporate engagement programmes such as the Sustainability Partnership Programme SPP, Sustainable Gifts.. etc).
On-going, success measured by completion of tasks and activities as outline by the Strategic Marketing & Events Manager (SM&EM)
1.1. Design and deliver digital marketing content for emails, photo asset library, etc. including template design, copywriting, dispatch and providing evaluations of campaign data to work alongside SM&EM to continually improve effectiveness.
Direct mail – minimum 12 per year
Ad Hoc emailers as requested by SM&EM
1.2. Manage the 16 week Marketing Calendar ensuring all information is accurate . Attend meetings (as requested) and liaise with other departments to ensure timely and relevant updates.
Ongoing weekly management
1.3. Support the effective management of marketing activities budget as allocated SM&EM
1.4. Design and deliver creative marketing materials for BD proposals, fundraising campaigns, brochures, SPP video .. and other tools.
1.5. Design and deliver other relevant tasks as required by the line manager.
2. Promoting EWS – WWF
Support the implementation of major marketing and fundraising campaigns to promote the work of EWS and facilitate funding from partners and stakeholders. Deliver tools aligned to the Partner Relationship Strategy. Ensure delivery of items in line with prior approved Budget.
2.1. Design and deliver all newsletters to partners and stakeholders in line with approvals from SM&EM Manager and Brand Manager
Minimum One newsletter monthly.
2.2. Design and deliver creative content to publish the business development blog in line with approvals from SM&EM and Brand Manager
One blog monthly.
2.3. Design and deliver leaflets and other promotional items for BD initiatives including SPP, Just One (Tourism programme), Sustainable Gifts … etc.
Manage the planning and implementation to successfully deliver EWS-WWF planned Events within the allocated budget, aligned to the marketing plans and brand strategy
3.1. Organise and lead the delivery of events that build brand engagement and add value to partner relationship strategy.
Minimum 1 event a month
Biannual Partners event.
Annual BD planning retreat.
3.2. Organise and deliver Fundraising events and Charity challenges in collaboration with BD members, as facilitated by BD and secured sponsorship agreements.
At least 2 events a year- Q 2 onwards.
At least 1 challenge a year – Q 3.
3.3. Manage the recruitment and briefings of Event Volunteers aligned to successful delivery of events.
Create a core team of Volunteers to ensure availability of support throughout the year
3.4. Manage the promotional tools and brand merchandise inventory aligned to events and Partner relationship strategy.
Weekly monitoring with monthly reporting to the SM&EM
3.5. Manage and control the budget allocation for each event and optimize spend to ensure the best results for EWS-WWF.
