Logistics coordinator required by one of the world’s leading suppliers of marine fuel!

The logistics coordinator would be responsible for efficiently and effectively managing all shipments of goods from international locations to the field of operations (predominantly to Afghanistan but NCS also operate in Iraq and Eastern Europe).

Core duties and responsibilities include:

Management of shipments from international locations to Afghanistan, Iraq and Eastern Europe (site of operations).
Determine the most optimum mode of transport of goods considering transit time, cost and ease of entry.
Demonstrate full understanding of the required import and export processes, legalities including documentation, customs and duties. Keep abreast of developments and legislative changes.
Monitor the market through multiple freight forwarders, to ensure that their rates are and remain competitive.
Booking of shipments with Freight Forwarder.
Meet periodically with freight forwarders and source new alternatives.
Issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) to Freight Forwarders (when weight dictates the requirement for competitive bid).
Negotiate freight agreements with selected Freight Forwarders driving cost savings wherever possible.
Ensuring all necessary shipping documentation is supplied and accurate to ensure the smooth movement of goods.
Monitor all freight activities, maintaining the Logistics Log on progress from booking and collection to on-site arrival and customs clearance.
Provide cost estimates for freight using benchmark pricing.
Review and approve all freight invoices.
Prepare Bidders Lists and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) packages for products and services in order to secure bids in support of operational requirements.
Execute Purchase Orders (PO) with selected suppliers.
Manage the PO from award through to on-site delivery and report/update on progress.
The individual

Analytical degree is essential, logistics accreditation would be desirable.
Direct logistics experience (import & export) is essential and direct procurement experience in shipping to Afghanistan, Iraq and Eastern Europe within oil industry is highly desirable.
Previous purchasing experience is desirable
Ability to speak and write English fluently is essential
Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
S trong team working skills is essential
Strong negotiation and problem solving skills are essential
Excellent time management skills are essential; ability to work within tight deadlines
MS Office and particularly Excel skills are essential
Familiar with any procurement system such as SAP, Oracle and experience with Microsoft ‘Navision’ or ‘Dynamics’ Procurement System would be desirable
