The Pool lifeguard role includes the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Key tasks and duties
Providing surveillance of students in and around the pool during swimming lessons and swimming events, and acting to ensure safety of students.
Providing support to the teachers working in the pool area.
Setting out and putting away swimming pool equipment used in lessons.
Checking the swimming pool cleanliness and chemical levels and reporting any problems to the school maintenance department and the pool maintenance contractor.
Showing awareness of the school’s student health and safety standards at all times.
Advising PE department teaching staff and PE Directors of latest requirements for swimming pool safety.
Keeping up to date with local life guard registration requirements.
Bringing any parental concerns to the attention of the swim coaches or the PE Directors.
Following procedures, contributing to, and supporting the initiatives of the PE department.
Carrying out any other reasonable school duties as required by the teacher on duty, PE Director and/or school management.
