Regional Group Underwriting Manager – Singapore

Drive the Strategic Plan for accelerated growth in line with the Head of Pricing and Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities

Develop, define and execute Regional Underwriting strategy for line of business in conjunction with the Regional Plan to drive profitable growth and a leading market position
Steer and control line of business portfolio Regionally to drive achievement of financial targets (e.g. full combined ratio)
Represent the Region in negotiations with Global matrix
Develop muiltiple business cases with cost/benefit analysis in line the strategic plan, obtain buy in for implementation
Drive underwriting planning process and monitor adherence to plan
Drive and proactively monitor a consistent and coherent global underwriting governance framework
Support development and implementation of new and modified products in liaison with Product Development teams
Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)in line with the Regional Manager
Ensure that all new business and renewal quotations and pricing requests are addressed in a manner designed to secure clients
Positively represent AWC internally within the Allianz Group, and externally to the market
Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting and Pricing process, including e.g. Actuarial, Finance, Operations
Participate in any and all cross-disciplinary Project Groups as may be required from time to time.
Lead and manage teams, ensuring organisational structure and processes are best fit to serve external and internal customers
Responsibility for Health, Safety and Welfare within team (please refer to the Company’s Safety Statement for full list of responsibilities)
Experience Required

Significant experience (minimum of c.10 years) in Underwriting management position in relevant line of business
Significant experience in successful business plan launches from concept, to sign of to delivery or end result.
Proven track record of successful negotiations with large corporate clients
Experience of working in a large, complex global financial services organisation
Successful track record of leadership of direct teams and matrix environments
Experience of working internationally
Experience of leading change in various business scenarios, including restructuring, integration and mature growth markets
Preferably Degree and / or professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII)
